Clinical Chemistry

Mindray clinical chemistry analyzers in the Philippines

Clinical chemistry carries the routine organ panels, lipids, glucose, enzymes and electrolytes that most outpatient and inpatient requests depend on. Framar supplies the Mindray BS range from the semi-automated bench-top BA-88A up to the modular 600 test per hour BS-600M, with ion-selective electrode options for laboratories that want electrolytes on the same instrument.

How to choose

Size the analyzer against your busiest hour rather than your daily total, and decide early whether electrolytes should run on the same platform.

Model Throughput Electrolytes Typically suits
BS-600M 600 tests per hour ISE option Tertiary hospitals and referral laboratories
BS-430 400 tests per hour ISE option Busy hospital chemistry benches
BS-360E 300 tests per hour ISE option Secondary hospitals and diagnostic laboratories
BS-240Pro 200 tests per hour ISE option Growing laboratories and satellite sites
BS-230 200 tests per hour Compact build Clinics and smaller laboratories
BA-88A Semi-automated Bench-top Clinics and low, intermittent workloads

Questions about clinical chemistry

How many tests per hour do we actually need?

Work from your busiest hour, not your daily total. Count the tests in your routine panels, multiply by the specimens you receive in the peak hour, and leave headroom for stat requests and repeats. A laboratory running heavy morning panels is better served by a 400 to 600 test per hour platform even if the daily total looks modest.

What does the ISE option add?

An integrated ion-selective electrode module measures sodium, potassium and chloride on the same instrument and the same sample, instead of on a separate electrolyte analyzer. If your routine panels include electrolytes, ordering the ISE option usually costs less than running and maintaining a second instrument.

Is a semi-automated analyzer still worth considering?

For a small clinic or a low, intermittent workload, yes. The BA-88A is a bench-top semi-automated analyzer with a much lower entry cost. The trade-off is operator time per test, so once volume becomes steady a fully automated platform is normally cheaper per result.
