Questions about urinalysis
Do we still need to read sediment under a microscope?
Not routinely. The EH-2090 and the EU lines photograph the sediment and classify the formed elements automatically, and a medical technologist reviews only the images the instrument flags. Manual microscopy stays available for the cases that need it, but it stops being the bottleneck on every specimen.
What is the difference between a strip reader and a urinalysis line?
A strip reader such as the UA-66 or UA-600 reads the dry-chemistry pad and reports the chemistry only. A line such as the EU-5600 Pro or EU 8600 runs the dry chemistry and the sediment on the same specimen and reports both together, so one aliquot produces a complete urinalysis without the specimen being handled twice.
Can we start with a strip reader and add sediment analysis later?
Yes, and many laboratories do. A UA-600 or UA-5600 covers the chemistry now, and an EH-2090 can be added when sediment volume justifies it. Tell us the direction you expect to grow in and we will size the first instrument so the second one fits beside it.
